Living Wages - Law

  • The legal minimum wage for blue-collar workers has 12 scales and varies by location, age, and skill level.
  • The law allows deductions for:
    - contributions to any provident fund or superannuation scheme;
    - small fines reasonable amount to cover damage to employer's property.
  • Total deductions must not exceed 50% of a worker's wages.

This means that:
  • All workers should earn at least the statutory minimum wage for the legal standard working week.
  • All workers should receive the correct payment for overtime.
  • Any deductions or fines should be legal, fair and clearly noted in employment contracts and pay slips.
  • All eligible workers should receive the correct benefits.
