International Union of Agricultural Workers: Pesticides Risk Reduction e-Programme
IUF ROLE

IUF wants to develop its own ability to meet the challenges being posed by global supply chains, protect its members and gain recognition - and reward (!), for their new skills. A key element will be to identify the pesticide supply chains, and the challenges and opportunities to reduce pesticide risks.

SUE/OMARA - more here please..

At a recent International Food Policy Seminar, the man from Nestle, in relation to how important supply chains now are, said:"Whatever the game, we will teach you the rules".

According to IFPRI Conference (Dec 07) on the World Food Situation: "While new prospects have arisen for some farmers, many others have not been able to take advantage of the new income-generating opportunities, since the rigorous safety and quality standards of food processors and food retailers create high barriers to their market entry."

In relation to pesticides, we will explain the game (Conventions) and brief you on the rules (laws and codes) so that we are in a better position to hit our targets. (Is there an IUF Conference decision re pesticides that could go in here?)

The three e-elearning programmes will involve identifying the various roles for:
Union officers (Level 4),

Safety representatives (level 3) and

Lay members (level 2)
have in relation to these supply chains....
