Definition

A pesticide is any substance that kills pests. The pest may be insect (=insecticide), weeds (=herbicide), fungi (fungicides), mites (acaricides), rats (rodenticides)..and growth regulators. Pesticides are usually chemicals, but sometimes may be naturally occuring substances - biopesticides - not ot be confused with biocides which refer to pesticides used at homw rather than on the farm/plantation.
