The long term aim of this Health and Safety level 2 qualification "Working Safely (in Agriculture / Horticulture)" is to reduce the incidence of fatalities, other accidents and ill-health on farms and small holdings. pesticides

This H&S qualification was developed as a result of several years work among representatives of the Farmworkers and Farmers with the HSE and the Sector Skills Council (LANTRA) to determine the overall skills needed to reduce risks in land based industries. Following this process, the necessary skills were translated into learning competences to nationally recognised standards as vocationally related qualifications). This was done with the help of two Awarding Bodies - Lantra Awards and NPTC, and QCA. (more of this story) farmworker The first H&S (Ag/Hort) Awards were presented at the Royal Show in July 2008.

These e-learning materials are to help people living in isolated situations have access to the process of learning and for busy tutors who can spend their time better supporting learners. The materials have have been written according to the international SCORM standards. This means the materials can easily be incorporated into learning management platforms. The online learning materials here are freely available and accessible to all.
