1.4.How to implement procedures to enact the health and safety policy

It is one thing to have a safety policy, it is another to translate this into procedures and actions which need be carried out to implement the policy.

Procedures may be written or unwritten but should be clear to those who need to follow them.

Tasks

1. Identify written and unwritten procedures

Select the main parts of the safety policy that require some sort of procedures.

Have we sample farm policies that could be used?

2. Determine elements of good procedures

What elements are critical for good procedures? clear, concise, easy to follow.

3. Apply to chosen situation

Choose one particular farm hazard and determine a realistic procedure for dealing with it...eg handling pesticide treated plants, quad bikes
